When Greenfield Energy first started in 2014, a Parliamentary report found electricity and gas prices had increased by 72% and 54% between 2003 and 2013. We were paying more money for less electricity meaning basic necessities like cooling in the peak of summer was less affordable and families had less money for groceries, education and holidays.
Jack Greenfield was incensed that energy providers took Australians for granted, expecting Cairns and Townsville homeowners to shoulder ever increasing utility rates due to a lack of competition. Instead, he took the fight to them and has continued ever since. With the tropical sun shining almost two thirds of the year, it was the most reasonable argument for Cairns and Townsville to harness the sunlight to power their lifestyle.
